Weave Your Story Virtual Art Show

I was born near the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio where finding artifacts of First Nations people is common. My family is very close so I had many cousins to play with and we honored family traditions brought over from Germany and Austria. I was also brought up to respect and learn the culture of my adopted home in Ontario.

My faith, my family, and friends are always with me wherever I am. I love them and they love me.

I chose the wood to create my loom. I wanted to convey simplicity and warmth. My invisible really isn't invisible which is why my loom remains. I suppose that I am "an open book".  My weaving mostly contains my handwovens with all their imperfections. The added sparkle throughout my piece reflects the land I grew up on which really did sparkle due to all the quartz in it. I was surprised that the difficult and sad times were not as hard to show as I thought they might be. The angled top of my piece is a reminder that no matter how difficult, life goes on and I hope I can be accepting. The natural color was chosen to symbolize a desire to be open to change.

I enjoyed getting lost in my weaving while selecting the colors and textures to put into a visual of my thoughts and emotions. I often felt that I was painting with fiber. It felt good!
