As I was getting ready to start weaving I realized that I was older than anyone else in class (I will be 78 the beginning of January). I have more to tell than others, the 1/3 past + 1/3 present + 1/3 future formula wasn't going to work for me. Even if I live to be 100,  more than 3/4 of my life is over... So instead of the branch frame loom I intended to use, I went to my Saori Loom. I only had a black warp, but that was OK with me - I didn't give it any "I,"  It was just the background of my story.

Before I started weaving, I went through my life pretty much year by year. I had several periods of "Life Goes On" time frames of about 10 years each where nothing really stood out -- good or bad.  Where you recommended using "twill" for playful times, I used clasped weft for the "neutral" times. I only planned for two things - silver ribbon for the Sacraments, and use of a thick/thin black yarn for the "worst" period of my life... In the end result, it seems that period didn't have as much impact on my life as I thought.

Since I got married for the first time at the age of 67 and moved from the East Coast to the West Coast - I used my wedding as the beginning of "my present", and literally tomorrow as "my future".... Other than getting weepy while weaving "my future," I got through the process rather painlessly. I am pleased with the results. In general it appears that my life was/is peaceful and full of hope.
